Evening wear, and a deep fascination with the female silhouette. Clothing as an amplifier of strength, elegance and uncompromising self-assurance.
A balance of architectural structure, sharp arrested form, and flowing lightness.
Inspiration arrives impulsively. Out of the smallest, most unremarkable moments — the structure of a glass, the shadow of a cloud — sculptural couture drawings grow through thinking.
Selected work
Inspired by a wedding waistcoat, and made from it. Enveloping bat-wing sleeves. A bold corset above, and below it a skirt in satin, elegant and following the body.
Part of the corset comes from the waistcoat itself, filled out with further cloth. A dress that used to be something else.
Strong contours. A silhouette that follows different rules. Contrast, heavy fabrics, self-assurance.
I designed this one to leave my comfort zone. I cannot say where the idea came from — that was the point of it.
A snapshot of a cloud. Something that recalls a sunrise. Soft pinks.
An elegant, light flow from the bodice, over the sleeve, and on into the skirt.
A school assignment on clothing and the future.
Epoxy resin and fabric, formed over an exact plaster model. Draping, drying times, reworking. Constructively the most demanding piece I have made so far.
